A recent recruit of the Obstetrics Department of Washington University Hospital, Dr. DePaul works in a male dominated profession. She has fought against stereotypes her entire career and is therefore particularly interesting to Virginia Johnson, who has become a valuable coworker and confidant. DePaul is overly determined to get her own study on cervical cancer funded, primarily because she is herself a victim of the disease.
Following the release of John Wells’ AUGUST OSAGE COUNTY, based on the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning play of the same name, Julianne Nicholson has completed production on the independent film TEN THOUSAND SAINTS, with directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.
Nicholson also stars in Sundance TV's THE RED ROAD, along with Jason Momoa and Martin Henderson and on BOARDWALK EMPIRE, in the role of Esther Randolph.
Independent film work has been a staple for Nicholson with leading roles in Hilary Birmingham’s TULLY, opposite James Franco in Jay Anania’s SHADOWS & LIES, in Bill Condon’s KINSEY, and alongside Ethan Hawke in STATEN ISLAND. She has also worked with international directors such as Peter Chan in THE LOVE LETTER, Alain Berliner in PASSION OF MIND, and Nick Hurran in LITTLE BLACK BOOK.
Her New York stage work includes a role she originated in Sam Shepard’s HEARTLESS, Melissa James Gibson’s new play THIS, and Rattlestick’s production of Adam Rapp’s THE HALLWAY TRILOGY.
Nicholson divides her time between Los Angeles, New York, and London.
