Cry The Beloved Country
This somberly powerful film is based on Alan Paton's renowned 1948 novel about race and redemption. James Earl Jones plays a rural preacher who ventures into Johannesburg to help his sister, and Richard Harris costars as an Afrikaner landowner searching for his missing son. The two men's paths converge, unexpectedly, through tragedy. Director Darrell J. Roodt is acclaimed for his anti-apartheid films, such as "Place of Weeping."
