Ryan Phillippe stars in this intense drama as Jimmy West, an Austin, Texas teenager who's terrorized by his psychotic Vietnam veteran father Ray (John Savage). Although his basketball skills could earn Jimmy a scholarship to college with his girlfriend, he's afraid to leave his little brothers and mom (Nastassja Kinski) defenseless with the family patriarch.
