A Slipping-Down Life

Lili Taylor and Guy Pearce star in this colorful and eccentric Southern tale written and directed by actress Toni Kalem ("The Sopranos"), adapted from an early novel by Anne Tyler. Taylor, in an award-winning performance, plays a lonely young Carolinian who becomes so fixated on a local rocker (Pearce), she carves his name into her forehead. (However, since she was using a mirror, the letters are reversed.) Before long, the small-town musical demigod and his number-one fan discover they need each other more than they suspected.
