Night Catches Us

Years after he left both his politics and his hometown behind, the funeral of his father brings native son Marcus (Anthony Mackie) back to Philadelphia during that city's hazy, hot, summer Bicentennial celebration. Despite his loss, Marcus faces the skepticism and scorn of a community that still suspects him to be the traitor that revealed the identity of a fellow Black Panther militant to the authorities, resulting in the man's murder. Kerry Washington and Wendell Pierce costar in this period drama.
