Roommates

Cantankerous but lovable grandpa Rocky Holeczek (Peter Falk) raises his orphaned seven-year-old grandson, Michael. When Michael (D.B. Sweeney) is ready to start his own family thirty years later, Rocky, who is now well past the century mark, can't quite bring himself to let go. Cowriter Max Apple based his screenplay partly on his relationship with his grandfather, and the result is this poignant effort from director Peter Yates which costars Julianne Moore and Ellen Burstyn.
