Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss star in this romantic comedy playing a vibrant, high-strung waitress and the brash real estate guru who sweeps her off her feet. However when it comes time for the wisecracking, time-share millionaire to meet her Boston-Italian parents (Danny Aiello and Gena Rowlands), the squabbling is only the prelude. This was the first American film directed by Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom ("My Life as a Dog"), who followed with "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "The Cider House Rules" and "Chocolat."
