Antonia's Line

In this Oscar(R) winner, Marleen Gorris serves up a feminist fable with a touch of magical realism, retracing the life and legacy of strong-willed Antonia (Willeke van Ammelrooy) and her extended family. Returning to the rural Dutch village of her youth, Antonia disregards all rules and conventions as she independently raises a daughter, farms the land and welcomes misfits and friends to her long dinner table. By turns romantic, violent and joyous, "Antonia's Line" is a celebration of the natural cycles of life.
