| From Showtime: Improvements to Message Boards |
New! You can now view Showtime's message boards using the alternate "threaded view".
The default view for the message boards is "linear view", in which all of the messages in a topic are listed chronologically and the newest messages appear at the bottom of the page.
"Threaded view" allows you to see where a reply fits within a topic. In this view, each message is grouped with its replies, and you can read one message at a time while seeing where that message fits within the topic's thread.
To switch between these two views, simply click "see linear view" or "see threaded view" at the top of each topic's page.

| What are message boards? |
Message boards provide a forum for you to have conversations with other users over an extended period of time. Message boards allow you to post a comment for others to read at their convenience and then reply, as opposed to chats, where you can "talk" in real time. |

| How do I read a post? |
To open a post, click the text of the post topic, contained in the farthest left column of the message board. A topic is basically the subject line of the post, which is entered by the member to describe what the post is about. All the responses to that post, if there are any, are listed below the original post. |

| How do I make words in my messages appear bold or italicized? And how do I insert an indented quote? |
You can make parts of your message bold or italicized by putting some basic HTML code around the text you want to format.
- To make text bold, put the tags <b></b> around the words you want to be bold. For example, if you put <b>bold</b> in your message, it will appear as bold.
- To make text italicized, put the tags <i></i> around the words you want to be italicized. For example, if you put <i>this is italics</i> in your message, it will appear as this is italics.
You can also add an indented quote to your message:
- To create an indented quote, simply place the text you want to quote between the tags <blockquote></blockquote>. For example, if you put <blockquote>To Be Or Not To Be</blockquote> in your message it will appear indented in your message:
To Be Or Not To Be

| How do I put a link in my post? |
You can insert a link into your post by using a simple bit of html code. If you wanted to create a link to the SHO.com homepage (http://www.sho.com), you could put the following html in your post:
<a href="http://www.sho.com">sho.com</a>
In your post, the link would show up as:
sho.com
If you preview your post and it doesn't look like your link is showing up correctly, make sure you have properly formatted your link:
- Be sure that you have both an opening ( <a href=""> ) and closing ( </a> ) tag.
- Be sure that the URL is contained in quotation marks
- The URL must begin with "http://"
- You cannot add javascript or any attributes other than href to the <a> tag. If you do so, the link may not appear correctly.

| Why can't I see my post? Is it gone? |
If you submitted a post by clicking "Post Now," your post should be live on the message board. Try scanning the subject lines to locate your post. At times, technical problems will prevent your post from appearing. If this happens, we apologize, and invite you to post again. Your post also may have been deleted if it was part of a thread that was deleted. |
