This will prove to be a busy year for Melissa Sagemiller, a beautiful and talented actress who will hit the big screen in two films this year.
Melissa recently wrapped production on Disney's "The Guardian" alongside Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher. "The Guardian" centers on a Coast Guard ocean-rescue swimmer (Costner) haunted by tragedy. Kutcher plays a recruit who becomes his protege, with Melissa as Kutcher's love interest, a strong-willed schoolteacher. The film will be released on September 22nd.
Melissa can then be seen starring alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Susan Sarandon and Seann William Scott in New Line's hilarious feature film "Mr. Woodcock." The film will be released this winter.
On television, Melissa starred in the Golden-Globe nominated Showtime miniseries "Sleeper Cell." The show dramatizes the inner workings of a Los Angeles-based Islamic terrorist cell and an undercover F.B.I. agent who infiltrates it. The critically acclaimed and Golden-Globe nominated miniseries will return this winter as an eight-hour television event.
Born and raised in Washington DC, Melissa's passion for the arts came early. At the age of three she began to study dance: tap, ballet, jazz and modern. After responding to an ad in the Washington Post, Melissa made her stage debut at the age of 9 as Dill in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Soon she became a regular on local DC stages. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Melissa studied at The Stella Adler Conservatory, NYU's Stonestreet Studio, and at the Michael Howard Studio.
