British actor Geraldine James is celebrated for her work both on stage and screen.
Geraldine will be seen later this year in the highly anticipated DOWNTON ABBEY film, and most recently in the BAFTA nominated BEAST, written and directed by Michael Pearce and starring Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn. She can also recently be seen in Peter Mackie Burns’ film DAPHNE, for which she was nominated for an Evening Standard British Film Award, and as a guest star in the hit BBC comedy UNCLE.
Geraldine played Lena in the multi-award-nominated 45YEARS, directed by Andrew Haig. Geraldine won the 2019 Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the hit Netflix series ANNE WITH AN E, and has been BAFTA nominated four times for her television work for DUMMY, THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN, BAND OF GOLD and SINS. Her other television credits include: THE FIVE, BLACK WORK, UTOPIA 1 & 2, LITTLE BRITAIN, STATE OF PLAY, CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, WHITE TEETH and BLOTT ON THE LANDSCAPE.
James’s theatre credits include HAMLET on Broadway, THE SEAGULL, VICTORY, THE UN INSPECTOR, THE FAITH HEALER, LYSISTRATA and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE on Broadway (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award).
