Jessica Raine’s acclaimed career has gone from strength to strength since she was plucked from RADA early to make her professional debut at the National Theatre as Lesley Sharp’s daughter in Simon Stephens’ Harper Regan. In the last few of years we’ve seen her star in some of the UK’s most celebrated television, be it as Alison Laithwaite in Peter Moffat’s critically acclaimed THE LAST POST, Lady Rochford opposite Mark Rylance in the award-winning adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s WOLF HALL and as Jenny Lee in CALL THE MIDWIFE.
This year Raine can be seen opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in TV mini-series PATRICK MELROSE, alongside Paddy Considine in THE INFORMER, in the upcoming feature film CARMILLA, and in Simon Amstell’s debut feature film, BENJAMIN.
Other screen credits include JERICHO, INSIDE NO.9, PARTNERS IN CRIME, FORTITUDE, AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME, for which she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series at the US Critics Choice Awards, DOCTOR WHO, GARROW’S LAW, THE WOMAN IN BLACK, and ROBIN HOOD.
Her theatre credits include X, ROOTS, THE CHANGELING, ROCKET TO THE MOON, EARTHQUAKES IN LONDON, GHOSTS, for which she was nominated for the Ian Charleston Award, PUNK ROCK, for which she won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, and GETHSEMANE. Raine was also nominated for the Times Breakthrough Award for theatre at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards in 2012.
