Harlem schoolteacher Dorothy (Diana Ross) tries to save her dog from a storm and is mysteriously transported to the urban fantasy land of Oz. On arrival, she accidentally kills the Wicked Witch of the East and meets a scarecrow (Michael Jackson), a tin man (Nipsey Russell) and a cowardly lion (Ted Ross) who join her mission to find The Wiz who can help bring her home.
