An eight-year-old Amish boy witnesses a drug-related murder in the men's room of a Philadelphia train station. The Philadelphia police captain (Harrison Ford) assigned to the case discovers that the murderers are cops trying to squelch a corruption investigation. He fears for his own life, and the lives of the boy and his mother and they flee to a Lancaster County farm. The detective becomes romantically attached to the young mother, while she, because of her Amish upbringing, must suppress the attraction she feels for him.
