In the summer of 1979 in Santa Barbara, Dorothea is a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Struggling with his upbringing, Dorothea enlists the help of a free-spirited punk artist and a savvy, but provocative teenage neighbor.
