Girlhood

African-French teenager Marieme lives in a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Paris with her abusive family. Everything changes, however, when she is summoned by a group of free-spirited girls and asked to join their gang. She reinvents herself and gains self-confidence in the process – but soon realizes that her new lifestyle is not all she had hoped for.
