Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) is an emotionally immature radio journalist who travels the country interviewing kids about their thoughts on the world and their future. After his sister asks him to look after her son, Jesse, Johnny gains a new perspective on the connections between the past and the future and relationships between children and adults.
