Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award winner Toni Collette made an indelible impression on Hollywood with her portrayal as Muriel Heslop in the 1994 film, MURIEL'S WEDDING. Proving her amazing ability to transform into the characters in which she plays; Collette has since starred in a variety of intriguingly diverse roles.
Collette starred in FOSTER, an independent film directed by Jonathan Newman. Additionally, Collette has starred in JESUS HENRY CHRIST, a comedy produced by Julia Roberts and also starring Michael Sheen. Collette was also seen in FRIGHT NIGHT opposite Colin Farrell. In the fall of 2008, she starred in the Alan Ball ensemble TOWELHEAD, alongside Aaron Eckhart. The year prior, Collette starred in EVENING, co-starring Vanessa Redgrave and she also played opposite Keisha Castle-Hughes in the Australian children's film HEY, HEY IT'S ESTHER BLUEBURGER. Other recent projects include the Oscar® nominated comedy LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE; TSUNAMI: THE AFTERMATH, for which Collette received both Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominations; THE NIGHT LISTENER with Robin Williams and Sandra Oh; the Australian film LIKE MINDS starring Richard Roxburgh; IN HER SHOES with Cameron Diaz; Connie and Carla; THE LAST SHOT opposite Alec Baldwin; the remake of SHAFT opposite Samuel L. Jackson; THE SIXTH SENSE, for which she earned an Oscar® nomination; and the mystery/thriller THE DEAD GIRL with Josh Brolin.
Collette received some of the best reviews of her career for the film JAPANESE STORY, for which she garnered extraordinary critical acclaim, receiving an Australian Academy Award as well as the 2003 AFI Award for Best Lead Actress in a Lead Role. In 2002, Collette appeared in four films including CHANGING LANES, opposite Samuel L. Jackson; DIRTY DEEDS; opposite Hugh Grant in ABOUT A BOY; and the critically acclaimed film THE HOURS, co-starring Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore. Other titles include THE BOYS, VELVET GOLDMINE, EMMA, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, THE BLACK BALLOON, and the animated film MARY AND MAX.
Collette has also had the opportunity to demonstrate her talents on Broadway's stage; in 2000 she starred in the highly anticipated revival of THE WILD PARTY, alongside Mandy Patinkin and Eartha Kitt.
Most recently, Collette was honored with an Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award for her role in UNITED STATES OF TARA.
